  • What are the plans for Kagata Vavaghio and Balikura?
  • Price structure? E.g. $100 accom. $50 surfing. $80 fishing

To do/ improve
Upgrade facilities so that they are safe clean and attractive
  • Design of new accommodation buildings similar to Vavaghio. But make sure steps and walkways are properly designed. 
  • There needs to be permanent WATER- Pump, tank and 300 m hose for Kagata. See pic at bottom of page. The visitors before us had to wash in the pool below the pathway. The showers were not working. Here's a link to a water pump. Electric pump. Solar pumps are quite expensive.
  • New wooden chairs are uncomfortable. Cushions needed. Or new chairs. 
  • Some comfortable chairs / hammocks
  • dangerous steps -
    • Vavaghio landing,
    • step up to Vavaghio first guest room is not level and too narrow
    • Kagata - entrance to mess nearly rotted away,
    • bottom room bottom step needs to be removed. (All steps should be same height. and this one is dangerous in the dark when one is sleepy going to the toilet.)
    • Both jetties need non slip material added to steps.
  • boat seats have many places where nails are poking out. They need to be cut off or removed. (grinder has cutting wheels)
  • Shower curtain needs permanent fix 
  • Toilet light goes off
  • Freshen shower and toilet with new paint at least
  • New toilet seat
  • Phone connection not good, no one yet knows properly how to hotspot for guests.  and hotspot should be charged for. Someone with deep knowledge of phone and Internet and the best and cheapest way to make it work needs to look into the situation at Kagata. Hotspot phone? One overall plan? Starlink? If you add up all the phone plans paid for by various people, Starlink might be worthwhile. I think Starlink is about SB$400 a month (If guests pay half 10 locals would have to pay only SB$20 a month each for unlimited access.
  • the tarpaulins in the boat are not waterproof anymore. luggage gets wet and if you try to protect yourself from rain, lots of water comes directly through.

Other improvements
  • Security of valuable items - plan for new building
  • Sanitation for Kopikola. Ray?
  • Cabin batteries used by locals for phone charge and no light in evening for guests. 
  • Solar panels for a roof for cover for the villagers?
  • Wheelbarrow for fuel and other heavy loads 
  • 150 glasses Reva. Ray is buying.
  • Stocked Medical kit - there should be basics for guests - most of us left lots of kit.

Overall view of tourism in Barora (Cinagi Lina) tribal lands. 
  • With carbon trading in place more money will flow to the communities.The problem for carbon trading is smoe individuals in Kopikola . Do more money and resources need to go in there? 
  • Kopikola  needs more support to start own business so that they all come on board with tourism. And more work for Kopikolans at Kagata and Vavaghio. 
  • More visitors needed at Kagata  and Vavavaghio . Therefore, more employment and more wealth in the community. Vavaghio had less than 20 people this year. That is not enough. How many at Kagata? They would like at least 100.
  • Restructure pricing? e.g. $100 accommodation +$50 surfing. $80 fishing
  • Why is Vavaghio more expensive?
  • Carbon Trading is seen as positive by nearly everyone I spoke to. Andrew Tamito in Kopikola, Joseph in Kagata and Colin in Kia  need support and phones for learning, organising, communicating, researching. 
  • Money making ideas: cultural tours, Bird and butterfly watching tours, surfing, fishing photography for surfers, diving, provision of photography  and videography for surfers to purchase. Phone hotspot charges. Cooking classes. charge for tackle use (Decta to take pics for website). Surfboards available for guest use.

Laurie, I talked to my son in law who is an expert in websites and he says the INFO page is a great idea, with images for links, and keep most of the other pages hidden. SIMPLE.  Does, the title info make sense to you? it does to Australians. Part, it is easy to change it to about if you prefer.

As you highlighted “ Kagata Surfing Frens” is a network of friends who get connected to each other and share hospitality and environment that we are living on it. But then they have option to stay at Kagata Village or Vavaghio before go surfing or fishing  HOW GIVE THAT OPTION? When people enquire, you ask them? OPTION ON STAY WITH US FORM?

Maybe instead of putting out the packages LIKE DANCE PERFORMANCE? on the contact or enquiry page, we can leave that out first as I need to revist these activities and will try work out a package for them. At the moment let just sell Surfing or fishing , which we integrated it into other small activities like sightseeing, island visit or village visits if waves are not good.
